I'm a woman and I simply cannot identify with the term "sex," either. Oh, don't get me wrong: I can identify with sex... just not if you're using the word to refer to my vagina! I'm relatively new to romance novels, admittedly, but these are va-jay-jay words that pull me right out of the mood:
-va-jay-jay
-sex (agree that this is an act, not a body part)
-core (this one's not AS bad but still don't like it)
-cleft (this one is just awful to me for some reason and it was used repeatedly in the last book I read)
-vagussy (haha)

But here are a few terms I am fine with reading:
-vagina
-pussy
-c word (guess I am more of a perv than RomanceMan haha)
-slit
-mound
-mons (I'd never call it that, but if someone else does, that's fine)

It was funny. LB and I were the only two on the Baptist side who understood a little Spanish so everyone just started doing what we did. Oh and did I mention that the groom did not speak Spanish. Pure awesome.

Well, I waited until I was 35 to get married so I had lots of planning time and was ruthlessly organized. I wasn’t a Bridezilla, I swear. My bridesmaids’ dresses were off the rack at Lord & Taylor, $99. I was probably the calmest person in the whole wedding party. So I’m completely dressed, coiffed, made up, and two of my bridesmaids had yet to arrive. They sat me on a stool in my parents’ living room, spread my dress around me so it didn’t get crushed, handed me the TV remote, and left me alone. On my wedding day. I’m only the bride. Who cares if I need company or a sip of water? Sit here and don’t move.

Then we pull up at church. The door to the limo opens and the first thing said to me is, “Don’t worry.” Now, what would you think if someone said that to you? My husband-to-be had forgotten my ring. (I debated up until the day before whether I should bring it myself, but I didn’t want to micro-manage him. Yeah, that flew out the door early in the marriage.) My future father-in-law broke all speed limits, got the ring, and I was only 5 minutes late walking down the aisle. But I had desperately wanted to be on time because lateness irritates me. Again, I should have known then that my husband’s lateness would trump my punctuality.

My mother, my future mother-in-law, and myself worked long and hard over the seating charts. Large, large families. Sit down dinner for over two hundred. Fifteen years ago I didn’t have a fax machine so my MiL took the chart to fax to the reception hall. She faxed the wrong chart. So she and my mother got to the reception hall and proceeded to race around and rearrange cards. Again, I was going to hand deliver it but I didn’t.

Moral of this story? Stay calm and do everything yourself.

Gina, I loved RoE! Worth it for the Hawaiian wedding scene alone!
