  1. Diane, this is the last interview I am ever doing. I think the link works now though. Try it and see if you can comment and then I will comment and then you comment and then i comment

  2. You can read it but you can't comment yet. I'll wait until tomorrow and let other people get the ball rolling. I'll step in and insult you when I think it is appropriate. Are you allowed to call me names there or do we have to behave?

  3. D, how long do you think we can hold out before we hijack the blog and turn it into a discussion on something totally unrelated? And totally inappropriate?

  4. Back for some suggested reads.
Military? Give Catherine Mann a try. (you should hear her real life, met hubby story.)

Not happy ending? Megan Hart's stories tend to end on the real notes. Not necessarily not happy, but not the sugar coated fairy tale endings either.
Try, Deeper, or All Fall Down.

    :)
    D. Dye

  5. RM, I always knew that you stood by your standards!!
Good answer. The last interview was difficult for me to comment in b/c of that restriction.
It is so funny at work when I say a cuss word, b/c the people look at me like I have two heads, and say that they never heard me cuss before!?
I reserve it for important stuff. Maybe they aren't paying attention.

  6. Alright, alright, stop saying it. They can mosey on over there if they want too. I'm getting paid for this right? Cause I just booked a trip to Disney.

  7. Even though you had to behave you were an awesome interviewee. Awesome, awesome, awesome. What if you did an interview on your own blog where we get to ask you questions? That way you could go CRAZY :) or you could always interview yourself.

  8. That is a great idea Emmmmmmmmmmmily. Everyone send me some questions you want answered. I dont care what it is as long is it doesn't reveal my identity I will answer. Great idea

  9. Pat, Lexie is checking. The problem is we have a lot of emails on go daddy makes it hard to find them

  10. RM, you might suggest a particular subject name on the emails – otherwise you will be sifting thru a lot of them to find the questions we are asking. Just a thought.

  11. I was just about to say the same things as Mylilpad aka Kermit. I was just going to label mine "Interview Questions"

  12. @Diane. You crack me up. "Will there be snacks?"

I could also read the interview but unable to comment yet.

@D. Dye. I was also going to suggest that Remy would like Catherine Mann as well. In particular "Elite Force: Cover Me" since it's about a pararescueman. Both the h/h are strong and well matched. The Elite Force is a series but can easily be read as stand alone.

It was a good interview RM but just like you recognize, your true calling is here on your blog where you can totally be yourself and we can love you as you are. *Squishes* and *Double Snorts*

Give that no HEA shit up, Remy. If that's not what you want, read urban fantasy but I'll save for really getting in your face until I can comment at the interview;)

  13. Nancy, women cannot live on romance alone. We need snacks!
And great answer about the HEA. Other genres of fiction can have strong romances in them, but a "romance"? It must have the HEA in some form, RM. That's like the 11th commandment.

  14. Thanks RM…I heard from Lexie, we're taking care of it. Good night Diane,
    Good morning Luci… :-) . Good Night all……

  15. RM I think that should be upper case… Blog Bitch, or BB,lol, just what Diane needs another "degree" in her name.

and "will there be snacks" love it !

  16. very true LG, but things aren't that bad in NZ or the US, relatively speaking. My poor sis in Spain… things are REALLY bad there. She said the banks came up with a special deal for "preferred" accounts , only people didn't read the fine print and all of the money in the new accounts is tied up and people can't touch it for years. "Luckily" my sis isn't in a position in this economy to be a preferred account holder… but things are really scary unemployment is up to between 25% (general) to over 50% for youth.

  17. That is awful. Unemployment in Vegas has been 14%, it is going down now b/c people are giving up and not looking for work anymore.

  18. Fwiw, the economy here in northern California appears to be improving, and since a lot of Californians love to spend their vacations in Vegas, here's hoping some of that money will flow your way, LG.

And RM, I just read your blog post (couldn't comment yet) and I thought you did a great job–kept it clean and still got your points across. We're gonna make a professional writer outta you yet!

Back to my own writing. For some reason I always love to end the evening writing a really hot scene. Go figure…

  19. I clicked on the link from my mobile and i got a page full of butterflies then the text running down to the left in a single strip one letter under another. My mobile is as f****** up as my mind.

  20. RM, read very carefully, it it does not have a happy ending it is NOT called romance. It is called general fiction. Nicholas Sparks is perfect for you. Read something of his. He has one that has to do with a guy in the military i believe.

    Good interview btw :)

  21. Luci – you are right Nicholas Sparks would be perfect for RM if he doesn't want a happy ending. I had to stop reading his books because they are always so depressing at the end.

  22. SPOILER!!!!!!!!!

Alix never read a book of his but watched A Walk to Remember thinking it was a chick flick and to say I was shocked she died is putting it mildly. I also watched The Notebook but i loved that because in a weird sort of way the ending was bittersweet.

  23. I can't believe I came late to the party?!?! My login is still messed up so I don't get the fancy emails. I'm bummed. Great interview and I didn't recommend, cuz well you already have some great ones.

I would like you to explain to me though. How can a book be a romance WITHOUT a happy ending? It's supposed to be all hearts and rainbows, not a damn shit storm where they leave each other and go separate ways. I am so confused. Please do some explaining.

  24. BTW this does not feel like slumming…it feels like home. I would rather be in the gutter with you guys than in the upper classes being snobbish and not cussing and talking about real life. I rather like it here. I like it dirty!

  25. I own and have read every Nicholas Sparks book there is and you guys are right, almost all of them end in tragedy. A few of them, I cried my eyes out. If your looking or an excellent romance/military author, I suggest Suzanne Brockmann's Troubleshooter series. I have yet to read one by her that I dislike. Her newest, "Born To Darkness", is paranormal/military/romance and it's quite good. It's her first attempt at paranormal but it's really good.

  26. Good morning RM! You are a very brave or stupid man, I'm not quite sure which! ( JK =) to let all of us crazy women interview you! I cannot wait though—it will be lots of fun. You will be getting a long list of questions from me and they'll all be naughty =).
I agree with you on these interviews you've done. Although, you do them well, I don't like that they censor you. As I'm reading, I'm always waiting for the f-bombs to drop or a blow job or vagussy thrown in here and there and then I get really disappointed when they do not appear =). You are an alpha man after all, but these interviews tend you make you look like a cream puff =))

  27. Good morning all, I guess afternoon for you Luci…I too think you would like Suzanne Brockman's Trouble Shooters series , RM. ( Lexie too!) . It's Navy Seals, on dangerous missions, and they always get the girl!!! Haven't read her latest yet though.
I sent off my questions RM, should be fun!!! Well, have to go clean up so the cleaning person can clean…..I know your laughing, can hear you!

  28. I agree Scarlet.
    Its like RM's neutered.
But I did get in an innuendo. ;-0.
Not sure what questions to ask. But knowing there will be alot, maybe he could do a few at a time. Or make it a weekly thing. Say on Friday night? Because that would start the weekend off right!

  29. Hijacking the blog a minute. Anyone with wee ones that watch the Sprout network?

Someone please tell me I'm not the only one that takes special interest in Sportacus? (sp?)

  30. I agree about the interviews. Scarlet I hope you send some good questions because so far I have only gotten one from Pat and it is not a naughty one. I'm disappointed Pat. I thought you would do better :(

  31. Morning Pat! I agree RM needs to read Suzanne Brockmann's troubleshooter series. That's the series that started my love affair with Navy Seals :) . Read them RM, you will not be disappointed.
Crazy granny-I think that's a great idea. Maybe once a week or monthly RM you can do an 'Ask RM' post. I would love to read/ask questions on a regular basis.

  32. Nice interview RM. In recommending historicals, I would tell you to start with Johanna Lindsey. All her books are simply amazing & her Malory Series is just superb! Start with her and you will be hooked to historicals for sure.

  33. And have a section (page) just for those posts, so anyone can read those easily. And have a special link just for questions.
    Oh, I just had a thought….
What about an advice column? You know, "Ask RM" kinda like Dear Abby.
    His answers would be hysterical.

  34. Luci, I have 3 girls, my youngest will be 5 in a month, the middle one is 7, & my oldest will be 13 in September. I will be 30 in July so basically I've grown up with them. And let me tell you, I don't think I'm ready for the teenage years. The drama already, Jesus. All I wanted was one boy, but noooooooo, God blessed me with 3 gorgeous, dramatic, awesome princesses.

  35. Good Morning everyone! I agree RM should read the Troubleshooters. Suzanne Brockmann is my favorite author! Also, not everyone gets a happy ending in her books, at least not right away, sometimes it's 4 or 5 books later before they finally get their HEA.

I'm still not getting emails either, I feel so left out. :(
RM, I send you 5 funny pics for the gallery, did you get them?

Toni said "BTW this does not feel like slumming…it feels like home. I would rather be in the gutter with you guys than in the upper classes being snobbish and not cussing and talking about real life. I rather like it here. I like it dirty!" You said it perfectly Toni! That's exactly how I feel. :)

  36. Ok RM…I'll think some more. Remember, I'm the quiet one! Scarlet is telling you off now, so I don't think she could be " quiet" anymore. Scarlet, you are my hero!! I'll just have to pull up my big girl panties and think DIRTY…..hmmmmm.

  37. Steph, I don't know. Jim my tech guy is out of commision for a couple of days and I don't know how to do anything where did you send it?

  38. mamaofgirls you only wanted one boy? Lol you were probably trying for a boy second and third time then just gave up :) . Have two girls 7 and 9 and i am already seeing the dramatics. Your eldest is 13 so you must be bang in the middle of it all now. My husband wanted a boy but now he says he wouldn't have it any other way and if you ask him whether he'd want another baby he'd immediately say – yes, a girl :) . You are still young so bright side is when they leave home you will still be young enough to enjoy some wild times

  39. D Dye, granddaughter watches sportacus. But I try to avoid him. I always see a male stripper. Dont you swear he must be a male stripper behind that mustache? LOL Does this make me a bad grandma?

  40. Rahab, I do love her. I love so many of them. There are so many types of historicals! Ever try Cheryl Holt or Mary Balogh? Who else do you like?

  41. Mamma – I have 11yo twins Boy and Girl and I will tell you right now I will take girl drama over the boys beating their chests trying to one up each other. Between that and his room I walk around and just shake my head.

RM good interview – but you were right – you had to be good and I missed your humor – she didn't let you shine.

  42. Yes I have read Mary Balogh Huxtable and Simply series but haven't read Cheryl Holt. I also like Lisa Kleypas, Julia Quinn, Julia London, Sabrina Jeffries, Victoria Alexander…lol. This list is too long but those are some of my favorites.

  43. Moms of girls….they are crazy, hormonal , vessels of angst. BUT…when the reach 18 or so? Best friends. All of a sudden I really wasn't as stupid as she thought, my style of clothes is ok, And MAYBE, I had some good advice once in a while! Hang in there Mom's it gets better!

  44. Moms, you have to wait a lot longer for the boys to get that way! LOL they are much slower to mature.
Rahab, I know! My list is never ending as well. Sounds like we like a lot of the same ones though. How about Renee Bernard? She is rather new. But I fell in love with her first book. Incredible beginning and story. I got to meet her. She said I was the first reader to bring her book to her for an autograph. She wrote, "I love you, Lisa!" in it! LOL

  45. Pat, you're right. I had a horrible relationship with my mother but I'm so lucky to have a good one with our adult daughter. She's a hoot! I don't hear as much from our son because he's really busy with his job and three kids, but luckily his wife is wonderful. LOL…she's just as busy, but somehow manages to find the time to email me every day with pictures of the kids and short movies (they live in Hawaii) and I absolutely love her.

Going to be off line again, but RM, I'm looking forward to getting you back here again. In the meantime, remember: wife, daughters and day job come first. Print that out and put it over your desk. Read it every time you think of tweeting or blogging.

That's my 'old broad' advice for the day.

  46. To be honest, it's my 7 year old who's the most dramatic. She was born with naturally very curly hair. For her 5th birthday she asked me for a hair straightener. I have more arguments with her about clothes than I ever did with my 13 year old. She's always wanting to go get manicures & pedicures, I don't even get them! She's always wanting to put makeup on, which i refuse to let her do & if her hair's not perfect, forget it, she's not leaving the house. She doesn't get this from me cuz I only get dressed if I have to leave the house. We've branded her with the appropriate nickname of Diva. Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on how you look at it, we will not be trying for a boy. Every time my husband looked at me I got pregnant, so I made him get neutered.

Back to the subject of romance books, I also abso adore the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich, especially the earlier ones! Very mild sex scenes but so damn funny. Also another great military/romance author is Christy Reece & her Last Chance Rescue series. So good!

  47. Well Kate, this old broad agrees with you! We were always close, but it took him a LOT longer to figure out what he wanted to do with his life! He too, married a fabulous girl, and I love her to pieces…now, if they would just start working on grandchildren!!!

  48. My seven year old is the girlie one like yours :) must be the year. But she is also happy go lucky and a bit of a clown. Already loves kissing on film and is fascinated by little boys being different to little girls down there. She is the one that will give me trouble even though the eldest is the drama queen. This one time we were watching Treasure Island and the boy (fogot his name) was lured into a brothel so the prostitutes could steal the treasure map. So this prostitute starts undressing and I was like – well this is Treasure Island, she will not undress completely. You know just hint at it maybe?? But no….she unties the dress laces and starts removing her dress and reaches out for the boy's hand to touch her breasts. Well, at that point, my husband and i looked at each other and said we had better turn the channel. There is a difference between a hint and full blown nakedness in front of kids. So my husband changes the channel and my 7 year old – was 6 at the time just gets off the couch gets angry at us for changing the channel and stomps off. And when she came down again she told us we shouldn't have changed the channel even though they were undressing. That was the interesting bit. Lol. I was shocked that Treasure Island would include such scenes though, isn't it a kids' bok/movie or am i wrong about that?

  49. Rahab, if you are looking for new historical authors, you might also want to try Shana Galen or Grace Burrowes!! Love love them both.
Pat, you dont have grandchildren? I only have one, but she is the light of our lives. I highly recommend them! :-)
Luci, did you get the porn version of Treasure Island?? LOLOLOL

  50. Rahab, I also wanted to mention Jenn LeBlanc. She has an ebook out the is illustrated. Good story. A little different. She has done a wonderful job with the pictures. I know, it sounds like porn. But its not. :-)
Granddaughter is ready to go outside. That will mean getting in the pool. So thats it for me.
    Have a great day everyone!!

  51. Hey, I was thinking that the RM archives should have markings on them of *BBL recommended reading* materials. The blogs that we particularly liked (and no, we cannot have all of them!).

I'm just thinking that if we have newer people that want to check out the the backlist, it can be daunting to look at the list and decide which ones to choose….

If you guys agree, I can ask Jim to mark our favourites….how many agree??

  52. Hey RM, just wanted you to know I had NO TROUBLE posting a comment on your Lady Scribes guest blog. I recommended Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, read it to see if you'd like that historical.

  53. I totally agree with Chris Anson, I am not a huge fan of Historical Romance but I LOVE Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. Her books are huge but the keep you interested through the whole thing. She is an amazing author!

  54. Morning/evening everyone! I agree on the Suzannne Brockmann recommendation, I read one and that made me go thru all of them. But the Tall Dark and Dangerous series is also Navy Seal, and I started with that before moving on to the Troubleshooters. TDD came before Troubleshooters. I liked all of them.

  55. I cut my romance teeth on historicals. The first romance I ever read was Kathleen Woodiwiss' The Flame and the Flower. Did anyone mention Stephanie Laurens? She is an autobuy for me. And I really liked Julie Garwood's Scottish historicals. I don't buy many historicals these days but there are some really good ones out there.
